PAPERCLIP™ TABLES by Massimo and Lella Vignelli for Knoll

Designed by Massimo and Lella Vignelli for manufacturer Knoll, PAPERCLIP™ TABLES is a funny variation of café table on one of the world’s largest design, form a clever base of metal rods with round and square tops.

PAPERCLIP™ TABLES was designed to complement the Vignelli handkerchief chair, rounding out a collection that evokes simple elegance and functionality. It is ideal for residential and business applications. The PAPERCLIP™ TABLES can be used inside or indoors or outdoors (powder coated black base provide protection for the elements).

The table’s molded polyurethane edge enables it to sustain heavy use while appearing visually light and fluid. Various materials and finishes are available, from glass to neutral laminates.

About The Designer

Massimo Vignelli and his wife, Lella, have collaborated on myriad projects incorporating their industrial, furniture and graphic design talents. Their New York firm, Vignelli Associates, applies a Modernist aesthetic to every assignment, polishing each artifact to a glossy finish that reflects clarity, beauty and functionality. The corporate identity they created for Knoll in 1972 made them famous worldwide.

Tops come in both round and square shapes, in three sizes — small, medium and large.

Construction

Tops are either 1″-thick laminate top with molded urethane beveled edge; ½”-thick clear tempered glass with polished pencil edge; or ¾”-thick natural cleft slate with beveled edge.
Molded polyurethane edge makes the top durable but gives it a light and fluid appearance.
Base is 7/16″ diameter cold rolled steel rod with fused polyester, rilsan and chrome-plated finishes.
Glides are plastic.

Finishes

Laminate, glass and urethane top finishes are available in a variety of colors.
Painted base offers three color options and polished chrome.
Can be used outdoors with outdoor powder coat black base and glass or natural black slate top.
